It’s been a while, again!

Today, I would like to talk about something that has been happening on LAH lately. Namely, cluttered posts.

When I first designed the file-posting rules, and something wasn’t right, it got mercilessly deleted. However, with time, me and the mods have been pretty forgiving.

Those rules are taken pretty lightly these days. Per example, we leave posts that do not have passwords added there. And recently, we have been pretty tolerant towards people who were embedding sample pictures as IMG tags, not attaching them. At least, if the content posted was nice.

But frankly, it’s slowly getting out of hand. There have been several reports about our users getting annoyed from the flood of hentai anime posted in Angels Hentai Downloads.

And, really, some of them not only have no passwords, there are not even any screenshots or samples, or the sample is on some obscure site that has ads and malware on it. That certainly isn’t what we had in mind, and it’s getting stupid.

So in short, what are we going to do about it?

My general idea first is to update the rules to enforce that every upload MUST have an attached sample/screenshot. Uploads without one, or with one that is not attached, will be deleted, and the poster will be informed per PM.

Secondly, some people have been posting 3 episodes of one anime in 3 separate threads. I think it is really not necessary and it should be enforced that multiple episodes of one anime are to be posted in one thread.

I am still looking for a solution to properly deal with this, so if you have any ideas we could use, post them here as a comment or onto our suggestion forum.

As explained in the announcement post, there has been a new addition to LAH.

I know this is just a totally small thing, but I think it kinda helps categorize our downloads. Besides, it’s been pretty long since the last improvement

Some people have been asking for separate sections, but I think that would only take too much space, and we have enough sections as it is, IMO.

So, please make use of them now, it will help everyone find their way through our downloads.

To those waiting for their donation translations, especially perrine, I’m terribly sorry for being such busy with work, it’s actually been almost done for over a month now, only some minor lettering things are left. I’ll try to finish them ASAP.

So even after 2 weeks, still no change in our paypal situation; i’ve sent them an email, if that fails to get them moving i’ll call them. Irritating is what this is, they’re dragging their feet with resolving our issue. Sigh

So I’ve been back posting at LAH now, doesn’t seem as lively as it used too, maybe it’s just me. really haven’t gotten around to looking at the download section, or the requests. I haven’t been in to hentai in quite a while; in fact if you were to look at my collection it’s 98 percent worksafe. Mind you, I don’t dislike the erotic, I just haven’t really focused on downloading it.

So what else.. ah yes my teeth, still hurts; still bugging the hell out of me, and i’m still too much of a wuss to go to the dentist. I know I need too, but I just can’t bring myself to do it! I’m pretty sure they’ll have to extract the tooth, it’s the back top molar, and that just ain’t cool.

So that’s all for this post, hopefully something new comes up so I can update properly. Hopefully paypal gets off it’s ass and gets this resolved with us; and lets hope i don’t have to go to the dentist after all!

Everyone probably knows this, but LAH relies on it’s member’s donations to stay alive. During the last months, the donations have become less and it would seem that we will not be able to keep the site alive as it is now.

After some suggestions have been posted on the LAH Suggestion Page, I decided to change some stuff about the donations.

First, there will be a donation meter that measures how much donations we have received to feed lah.

Second, I have agreed that every month’s top donator can pick one manga that I will translate for him/her.
I will try to finish the new post and add some FAQ sections, meanwhile darknerr, out new jr. mod is helping me with the graphics of the bar.

Let’s hope we will survive

Well,
it sure has been a while since I purged users on LAH.
Just today I kicked out most users that haven’t been on for some months from our Skype Room.
The way skype works, if there are too many users in a room, some people starts to lag,
so a purge is needed.

It’s not too different with LAH.
We currently have over 51000 registered users, and while most of these really come at least once every 2 days, the forum is having a hard time browsing through all those users when looking for things.
The dreaded 503 errors have been appearing more lately, the reason for this is that we are hitting our server resource limit. Sure, I could just make that limit higher, but LAH is running on donations, and more server resources means bigger server bills.

I will try to optimize this as good as I can, but I guess we might have to purge most users that do not post again, to make LAH fast again.

actually, Az wanted to make an Admin blog a while ago already, but I was kinda hoping I could integrate it into the site. As I kinda don’t want LAH to be a CMS site, but want it to stay a forum, I decided to make one, and hopefully more people will read it than the Announcements on LAH

I will try to inform the mods and the staff about this, so they can add their thoughts too.

Well then, let’s get this thing started.
