Paypal what a pain in the ass.

So today, to my surprise, when I woke up.  I checked my mail, saw a donation; and a few other emails from paypal.  They notified me that they had restricted access to my account.

Due to a violation of their “Acceptable Use Policy”.  We’re still not sure, 100 percent as to why they think we’re breaching it. I do have a few ideas; either A, some asshat reported us. or B, they assumed that we were selling translated manga, despite it clearly stating it’s a donation not a purchase.  We will see if this helps change their minds.

Nice eh? :/ Whatever, we’ll figure out a way around this, don’t worry guys about the donations you’ve already made, those are fine; and still under my control.

They are just limiting my ability to receive funds, and send funds with paypal, I can still withdraw the balance.

Hey Az, good to have you back. You were never really gone, tho, right? ;)

I agree on Paypal sucking hind tit. I use it only for making purchases with prepaid VISA cards and three weeks ago they denied me access to my account because I didn’t have the same account number as I used the last time. (My card was spent and I have a new card.) I tried creating a new account, with a new email address, but this was denied as well because the card number I entered was shown to be used in another account— yep, my old account that Paypal was denying me to access. I suppose this is their way of protecting themselves from scammers but it’s a freakin pain in the ass for legitimate users. I’ve tried sending them emails to tech support but no one replies.
I’ll spend this card on groceries (or Amazon, for Xmas presents), then I’ll buy a new card and try creating a new Paypal account just for it, and I plan to use it to donate the full amount to LAH, in time for my 3-yr anniversary. I’ll check here to see how further developments go with Paypal in the meantime. And if you guys come up with an alternate pay-exchanger, I will definitely consider using it.

So far, moneybookers seems like a viable option, and many other sites are using it. We will see.

I can tell you exactly why Paypal says you wiolated the terms of service. Something I don’t agree with yet can slightly understand (I am a supporter of LAH). They say you violated the terms of service due to the nature of the “service” you provide. They are in league with the Federal Trade Commission in keeping Lolicon Art out of the US anyway they see fit. Which under the “Free Speech Coalition, INC. vs Alberto Gonzakes former Attorney General” 18 U.S.C. Annotate 2257 states that all individuals taking plae in sexually explict acts need to be ID’d as such. In cartoons this can neither be done nor can be expected simple because they are not real. There is a case pending now that is trying to imply that such material still places children as victums. I do not agree. So until that case is settled, you will have no support from government affiliates when it comes to LAH.

*Sorry for the major law lession.

Well, I understand what you mean, but they claimed that we are selling porn. They seemed to be talking about me translating a doujin for a month’s top donor, I assume. Amazon is working fine, so it’s okay. Thanks.
